Today we took time to review parts of the microscope. Please watch the link to the Brain Pop video and use the picture of the microscope to learn the different parts. You will need to pick up the microscope worksheet from class.
We also took a moment to talk about the cells we will study using the microscope. Here is a fun link that shows a comparison between cell sizes. Cell size link

Today we took our quiz over the Scientific Process. Students should have taken notes and used our "quizlet" to study. Please find that information on previous blogs.
After the quiz we began to set up our notebooks for the "Cells" unit. Students created a cover page and listed our "I can..." statements on the back of the cover page. Please see examples of cover pages and I can statements below.

Here is today's bellwork. Please read below for further class details.
Today we took time to summarize our lab. Please use yesterday's blog to review details. The lab was designed to help you apply the scientific method. You were given a question, took time to make observations and develop a hypothesis, then, after planning your experiment procedures, you completed an experiment. You then compiled your data in a chart, analyzed the data and wrote a conclusion (you answered the question)!
You did a lot of work! Good job!
Now to prepare for our scientific method quiz, please click on the Quizlet link. Use this with your notes to study for tomorrow's quiz.

Applying Scientific Process
Question: How does soap affect water's surface tension?
Please read through the lab below. We used the number of water drops that could be held on a penny to test water's surface tension. We then compared how soap affects water's surface tension.
The lab does need to be turned in for a grade!
